MoinMoin Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

MoinMoin is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because the application fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.

Mitigation:

Input validation should be used to ensure that untrusted data is not used to generate dynamic content. Additionally, applications should use a whitelist of acceptable inputs that strictly define what type of data can be accepted.
